One person is dead after an accident involving a wrong-way driver and a semi-tractor trailer on Interstate 10 in Tucson.

According to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials, the victim has been identified as Brian Valenzuela, 25 of Tucson.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. when Valenzuela drove onto the highway the wrong way and collided head on with the tractor trailer.

Valenzuela was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the big rig was uninjured.

Crews were on the scene cleaning up debris and diesel fuel until after 7:00 a.m.

While officials are saying that the investigation is currently ongoing, they have not ruled out alcohol impairment as a factor in the fatal crash.
