Two people have now died as the result of an accident involving a car and a city bus that happened in West Phoenix last week.
According to authorities, the accident happened around 7:00 a.m. when a bus that as turning in to the Desert Sky Mall located near 79th Avenue and Thomas Road was struck by another vehicle.
The vehicle burst into flames with two men trapped inside. Emergency crews arrived on the scene to rescue the two. One man, Jesus Torres Calles, 27, was declared dead upon his arrival at the hospital. The second victim, Juan Avila, 22, died later as the result of the injuries sustained in the accident.
Investigators say that two other people who were on the bus at the time of the fatal crash also suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital and later released.
An investigation into the crash is still currently underway.
