Two Cyclists Collide in Gilbert

Police say that two bicyclists that were part of a group of cyclists were injured in Gilbert last Tuesday morning.

According to the Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department, emergency crews responded to the accident that occurred at Pecos Road and Market Street at approximately 6:00 a.m. responded to the accident at Pecos Road and Market Street at about 6 a.m.

Spokesperson for the Gilbert Police Department, Sgt. Jesse Sanger said that one of the bicyclists went down, which caused a chain reaction of other cyclists to crash. No motor vehicles were involved in the accident.

Sgt. Sanger also indicated that there were no major injuries in the bicycle pile-up. One of the accident victims, a 48-year-old man suffered hip and shoulder injuries, while a 44-year-old woman suffered a head injury. Both were transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
