Tram Accident Injures 11

cavernareaEleven people have been injured at Kartchner Caverns State Park in southeastern Arizona when after a tram overturned.

According to park manager, Christopher DeMille, the three-car electric tram was headed up the hill while taking park visitors to the caverns about 11:00 a.m. on Friday. DeMille said that something went wrong and the tram fell off to the side of the road, ejecting some of the passengers.

DeMille said in a statement three of the injured people were transported to hospitals in Benson and Sierra Vista with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say that the cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Park Service.
