An accident on the playground has sent a 10-year-old girl to the hospital early Friday evening.
Authorities from Rural Metro say that the accident occurred at Jefferson Park near Broadway and Sossaman in Mesa when the child had been sliding down a slide. The scarf that the girl was wearing caught on the playground equipment and choked her.
Bystanders to the incident say the girl was in and out of consciousness. She was freed by the bystanders. CPR was not administered as she was breathing on her own. The girl was airlifted to Maricopa Medical Center as a precaution.
The girl is currently listed in stable condition.
Nothing in the world is more terrifying to a parent than their child being hurt. So often we take for granted that play places are safe, not taking into consideration that in spite of every precaution and accident can happen and they can be hurt.
