One young woman is dead and three other people have been seriously injured in an accident at South Mountain Park last week.
Officials with the Phoenix Police Department said in a statement that a vehicle with four occupants was traveling at a rate of speed that was too fast when it left the roadway and struck a boulder and then rolled over.
One woman was killed in the accident. The victim has been identified as Maribeth Magallanes, 19 who was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Three others, whose names have not been released by authorities were seriously injured and were transported to area hospitals. Their injuries were considered to be non-life threatening. Investigators believe that no one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the fatal accident.
The accident is still currently under investigation.
This incident cannot be described as anything other than incredibly tragic. Having to cope with the aftermath is something that no one should ever have to go through.
Travelling through mountain terrain can be dangerous. It may be a while before investigators know what actually caused this crash. Factors such as driver error or road conditions or even equipment failure may come into play. In a personal injury or accident lawsuit, those kinds of factors can affect how a case comes out and ultimately decides who pays for any damages, injuries or the tragic loss of human life.
No one can ever predict when or where an accident will happen, and to lose a loved one in an accident of this type is nothing less than tragic. Simply knowing how to carry on in the aftermath can leave many families feeling overwhelmed and not knowing what to do next. That’s the time to have an attorney working on your side that understands and will do everything to ensure that justice is served and that those suffering after an accident are compensated.
