A woman was injured in her own residence on Sunday after a driver slammed into the Phoenix apartment building that she was living in.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the driver had been heading northbound on 43rd Avenue when they lost control of their vehicle near Van Buren street at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Investigators say that the driver struck a metal sign before crashing into the apartment building.
The impact of the vehicle striking the building sent a set of dresser drawers on the other side of the wall to fly across the room, striking the woman inside.
Eyewitnesses said that the woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Police investigators believe that the driver was impaired at the time of the accident.
Even though it is often said that most accidents occur in the home, no one expects to be at risk from an impaired driver while they believe they are safe and secure inside their own home.
