Two are dead and seven additional people have been injured in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 10. Three of the injured are children.
According to authorities, the accident happened late Sunday on the westbound Interstate 10 at 12th street . Investigators of the crash have said that it appears that the accident was caused by a blowout of the rear tire on the driver’s side of a Chevy Tahoe. The blowout caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, sending it flipping into oncoming traffic but the vehicle did not strike any other vehicles on the Interstate.
None of the five people that were ejected from the Tahoe as it rolled were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Investigators have not said whether the children whose ages range from 7 and under were properly restrained in the vehicle.
Names of those who were killed and who were injured in the crash have been withheld pending notification of family.
It may take a while before the final results of the investigation are known. In the meantime, the families of those involved will have to attempt to put their lives back together again after the tragedy of such an accident.
